Privacy Policy

Last Updated: December 21, 2025

At Gradence, we take the privacy of students and educators seriously. This Privacy Policy describes how Gradence IO ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and discloses information, and what choices you have with respect to the information.

1. Information We Collect

School & Teacher Data: We collect information necessary to provide the service, such as names, email addresses, and school affiliations when creating an account.

Student Data: We process student submissions (essays, audio files, etc.) and associated metadata (names, grades) strictly under the direction of the School/Educator. We act as a Data Processor; the School remains the Data Controller.

2. How We Use Information

  • To provide, maintain, and improve our services (e.g., generating feedback).
  • To authenticate users and ensure security.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

We do NOT sell student data or use it for advertising purposes.

3. AI Processing

Submissions are processed by third-party Large Language Model (LLM) providers (e.g., OpenAI) to generate feedback. We have data processing agreements in place to ensure that data sent to these providers is not used to train their public models and is retained only for the necessary duration of processing.

4. Data Retention

We retain educational records only for as long as directed by the School or as required to provide the Service. Schools may request the deletion of student data at any time.

5. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures, including encryption in transit and at rest, strict access controls, and regular security audits to protect your data.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete your data. Parents or students usually must direct these requests to their School.
